I suspect we were not alone I’m not seeing rays that day. When I first went swimming with manta rays in Kona in 2008 it was a very different experience. A manta ray does what mantas do best, put on a great show The Problem. I would challenge the 92% success rating of seeing rays in this location or with this group. The manta rays are able to scoop up these little critters with their large mouths designed to scoop up vast amounts of water and filter out the phytoplankton. So we wanted to share this with our kids and booked Hawaii Oceanic due to it being a closer boat ride. The upsetting part is we had went with another company a few years before that were friendly, excellent and we had a great experience. Very expensive to be rushed for only a 30 min period. They did refund 25% not much when we spent over $1300 US. I question if this location is the best compared to other charters as well. I wouldn’t go back with this group regardless. In the end they offered that we “could book again for a lifetime” but this doesn’t really help as these trips are usually infrequent and can’t be rescheduled within your time of vacationing.
